Wong Jiayen

Jiayen is an accomplished physiotherapist with a First Class Honours degree from Glasgow Caledonian University, earned in 2013. With a passion for sports rehabilitation, she advanced her expertise by completing a Master of Advanced Clinical Physiotherapy (Sports) from the University of South Australia in 2019, where she was awarded the prestigious Brooks Running Prize as the top student. Jiayen is also an internationally certified Mulligan Practitioner, highlighting her commitment to excellence in musculoskeletal care.

With extensive experience in musculoskeletal and orthopaedic rehabilitation, as well as sports injury management, Jiayen has built a reputation for guiding athletes through their rehabilitation journeys safely and effectively. Her collaborative approach empowers clients to achieve their goals while optimising their recovery process.

Jiayen’s leadership as the lead physiotherapist at the Sports Medicine and Surgery Clinic at Tan Tock Seng Hospital underscored her clinical excellence. In this role, she mentored aspiring sports physiotherapists, and led initiatives focused on improving the quality of patient care. Jiayen was also part of the medical contingent supporting Team Singapore athletes at the 2023 SEA Games, reflecting her commitment to sports physiotherapy at the highest level.

In addition to her clinical practice, Jiayen is actively involved in physiotherapy education and research. Her studies span areas such as Total Knee Replacement (TKR), Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) prehabilitation, and tennis elbow conditions. Outside of her clinical work, Jiayen volunteers as a rater for physiotherapy research publications with the esteemed Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro). Her dedication to education within the profession has been recognised through multiple awards, including the NHG Teaching Award for Allied Health Educators and the Tan Tock Seng Hospital Clinical Educators Award. Jiayen also played a key role in establishing Tan Tock Seng Hospital’s first Residency Programme for physiotherapists.

Outside of her professional commitments, Jiayen’s adventurous spirit sees her pursuing a variety of sports, including rock climbing, lifesaving, and underwater rugby. She has successfully summited Mt Kinabalu and Annapurna Base Camp, and enjoys running, hiking, and climbing in her free time.
