With more than 10 years of working experience an outpatient setting, Nicholas specialises in physiotherapy for musculoskeletal conditions, orthopaedic post-operative care, and sports physiotherapy. He has previously worked with patients in the outpatient musculoskeletal clinic and sports clinic in a restructured hospital; and in the private sports clinic setting, with a keen interest in post-operative sports rehabilitation.
Nicholas has special interest in shoulder and neck rehabilitation, and has treated a wide variety of conditions including rotator cuff injuries, SLAP lesions, post-operative shoulder, degenerative shoulders, shoulder instability, and adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder). He is very well versed in the latest and most advanced techniques for shoulder rehabilitation protocols having been a lead in conducting and organising group therapy classes for post-operative shoulder repair in the hospital. He has also developed online educational materials for junior therapists on rotator cuff repair protocols and rehabilitation.
Having been a rugby player for 8 years, Nicholas is well-versed with a wide variety of sports injuries and return to sports rehabilitation. His familiarity with specific biomechanics of movement in different sports such as rugby, weightlifting, running, basketball, racket sports (tennis, pickleball, squash), gymnastics, skiing, frisbee, and golf helps his patients achieve an accelerated yet safe return to sports.
Nicholas strives to keep up with professional education to continuously improve his skills and knowledge. He has learnt a large variety of treatment techniques to accelerate return to sports and facilitate pain management including manual therapy, myofascial releases, sports massage therapy, sports taping, electro-physical modalities, cognitive behaviour therapy, amongst others.
